Liquid inlet protection device for liquefied gas compressor
Due to the incompressibility of liquid, the compressor can only compress gas. If liquid enters the cylinder accidentally, "liquid hammer" will occur, causing serious damage to the compressor. A large amount of dangerous gas will leak out quickly, causing serious accidents. Some domestic liquefied petroleum gas stations have experienced "liquid hammer" accidents when using old compressors. This series of liquefied gas compressors are equipped with high-efficiency gas-liquid separators to prevent liquid from entering the compressor and ensure the safe operation of the compressor.
The gas-liquid separator is composed of a cylinder, a float, a shut-off valve, a drain valve, etc. If liquid enters the gas-liquid separator, the buoyancy of the liquid will lift the float and close the shut-off valve, preventing the liquid from entering the compressor.
Under normal circumstances, there will be no liquid in the gas phase pipeline. If liquid enters the gas phase pipeline, the vast majority of reasons are caused by operating errors, among which the main reason is the "tank bursting" of the storage tank. It must be pointed out that the occurrence of liquid entering the gas-liquid separator, causing the liquefied gas compressor to stop, is an accident. Users should eliminate such accidents from a management perspective.
Once the liquefied gas compressor is "liquid in", the inlet and outlet valves on the gas phase pipeline should be closed first, and the power switch of the motor should be cut off. Find the cause of the liquid inflow. Thoroughly remove the liquid in the gas phase pipeline, open the drain valve under the gas-liquid separator, remove the liquid in the gas-liquid separator, and then continue to start the compressor according to the regular procedures. Users are reminded that if the liquid in the gas phase pipeline is not completely drained at this time, liquid will enter again when the compressor is started again. Therefore, users should completely drain the liquid in the gas phase pipeline.
