Faulty components caused by the operation of ammonia compressor

Edit:Bengbu Zhengda Compressor Co., Ltd.UpDate:2022-04-11

The reasons for the damage of the ammonia compressor motor are multifaceted and comprehensive. In addition to the common fault components common to other motor power equipment, it is also related to the fault components caused by the specific operation of the ammonia compressor itself. The main analysis points are as follows:

1. Reliability and sensitivity of air pressure automatic switch

Most pneumatic automatic switches adopt a mechanical structure and use spring compression and release energy to operate the contacts. It may be due to the inherent defects of the pneumatic automatic switch or improper adjustment, mechanical shock and other different reasons. In the process of controlling the air pressure, two abnormal action phenomena often occur.

(1) The air pressure automatic switch refuses to operate when overpressure occurs, causing the motor to fail to operate normally. The air pressure continues to rise, causing the motor to overload and run overloaded. In severe cases, it may be blocked by a fault.

(2) The transient vibration phenomenon of the air pressure automatic switch (especially when the air pressure is close to the upper and lower critical conditions) causes the communication contactor to vibrate synchronously. The main contact of the contactor burns out or gets stuck under the impact of frequent starting current, causing shutdown or phase loss operation.

2. Automatic exhaust valve failure

Ammonia compressors generally do not have automatic exhaust devices. When the air pressure reaches the set pressure, the compressor will automatically exhaust and reduce the pressure after shutdown, and the next no-load start will be preset. After the exhaust valve fails, the air pressure in the cylinder of the ammonia compressor cannot be released, which is equivalent to starting the motor with load, which may cause starting difficulties or stall failures.

3. During operation, the ammonia compressor operated by automatic gear suddenly stops (such as the conversion of main power supply and self-contained power supply) because the air pressure in the cylinder of the ammonia compressor is not released and restarted in time. The motor starts with heavy load, which may cause a stall fault.

4. Startup too frequently

Due to the irregular peripheral gas consumption, when the gas consumption is large, the motor is forced to start frequently. The residual heat generated by the large current during the starting process is not easy to dissipate, causing the motor to overheat and possibly burn out.
